Biography

Macedonian pianist SIMON TRPČESKI has established himself as one of the most remarkable musicians on the global stage, performing with 100+ orchestras on 4 continents with leading conductors on the most prestigious venues. Mr. Trpčeski is recognized for his powerful virtuosity and deeply expressive approach, as well as his charismatic ability to connect with diverse audiences worldwide and his commitment to strengthening Macedonia’s cultural heritage.

Mr. Trpčeski has collaborated with a long list of eminent conductors that includes Lorin Maazel, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Marin Alsop, Gustavo Dudamel, Gianandrea Noseda, Charles Dutoit, Antonio Pappano, Michael Tilson Thomas, Cristian Măcelaru, and Vasily Petrenko.  As an experienced pianist, he is also a popular collaborator amongst next-generation of high profile conductors, including Alpesh Chauhan, Jakub Hruša, Gabriel Bebeșelea, Dalia Stasevska, Elim Chan, and Dima Slobodeniuk.

Interview with Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra — Rachmaninoff Piano Concert No.1

The Milwaukee Symphony will open its Classics season Sept. 27-29, with a program that includes Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1, featuring Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski. MSO Backstage writer David Lewellen spoke to Trpčeski by phone recently. He shared: "I’m very happy that the Milwaukee Symphony chose Rachmaninoff’s first concerto, because it’s not often played and it’s my very favorite of the Rachmaninoff concertos. It will be my first time in the new hall, and I’m happy to open the season. The concerto is fresh and full of energy. It’s a showcase for Rachmaninoff as he was developing as a musician. Despite his youth, there’s lots of unexpected maturity in the choice of musical material and the orchestration, the instrumental colors and combinations."
