OAn evening featuring the works of Russian composers launches this year’s Ludwigsburg Festival. The focus is on Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic poem »Sheherazade«. A composer from Saint Petersburg discovers the poetic power of a Persian collection of fairy tales, is fascinated by the limitless imagination of the storyteller and creates an exciting and sparkling structure of musical narration. No less stunning and spectacular is Sergei Prokofiev’s 3rd piano concerto, which premiered in 1921 in Chicago and quickly became a crowd puller.
